Parker was the greatest scam artist in American history. he was managing to sell landmark items, such as, the Brooklyn Bridge.
Parker sold the Brooklyn Bridge at least twice a week, one time for as much as $50,000. He was allowing the "new owners" to set their toll booths on the bridge. He convinced his marks that they could make a fortune by controlling access to the roadways.
George also sold Madison Square Garden, Grant's Tomb, the Metropolitan Museum of Art and the Statue of Liberty. He had many different methods of making money. He even set up a fake "office" to handle his real estate swindles. So, basically Parker made his living off of selling New York's public landmarks to immigrants.
Because of these selling's, he was convinced of fraud three times. After his third conviction, he was sentenced to a life term. He is now known, and remembered to be the most successful con artist in the history of the United States.
